For teams.
To improve batting performance throughout the season.

Sports vision research has shown that visual skills such as contrast sensitivity and dynamic aspects of the visual system play a critical role in athletic success. Vision Combine brings performance tools straight to the field, so a team can quickly identify where it can improve — and measure those gains all season long.

Our Mission

Make batting performance measurable for every team — and give coaches the tools, right there on the field, to quickly see where the team can improve and turn it into a number they can move all season.

Measure, Don't Guess

You cannot change what you do not measure. Every protocol we ship is validated against peer-reviewed research and benchmarked against the standards elite baseball demands.

Improve Performance

A baseline is only the start. We turn it into the insight that guides and targets your coaching plan — focused on exactly where the gains are, and re-measured to prove the work paid off.

Backed by Research

Vision Combine's research team works to make Vision Combine accurate, so teams can focus on improving performance exactly where it's needed.

Founders

The team building on-field performance measurement for baseball — so any program can see where to improve without the guesswork.

Dr. Robert J. Steinmetz

Chief Executive Officer

Clinical optometrist and Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Author of the research thesis that Vision Combine is built on, and the clinical lead behind the screening protocols and benchmarking against elite baseball standards.

Dr. Eric Baas

O.D.
Chief Vision Scientist

Dr. Eric Baas served as the team optometrist for the UIC Flames, where he worked closely with Division I athletes to optimize visual performance at the highest level. His experience in sports vision care shapes his approach to optometry and business—focused on precision, preparation, and results. Dr. Baas brings that same high-performance mindset to his work today, helping optometrists successfully launch and grow private practices. He is also an Assistant Professor at the Illinois College of Optometry where he teaches practice management.

Dan Greff

Chief Technology Officer

Engineering leader and architect with 25+ years building enterprise-scale secure platforms. Dan has previously founded and scaled two companies through acquisition. At Vision Combine, he applies his deep hands-on experience architecting agentic AI systems and ML-driven products to our mobile and cloud-native platforms.

Our Story

Vision Combine started with a simple question: why do teams have no credible, repeatable way to measure where they can actually improve? Coaches could feel where a roster was strong or weak, but feel isn't a number — and you cannot improve what you do not measure.

The answer wasn't another training app. It was a measurement layer: an on-field session a coach can run in minutes per player, calibrated against the standards elite baseball demands, that turns the whole roster into a baseline and clear direction for the coaching plan. Tools brought straight to the field — a phone and an iPad.

That's what we've built. We're piloting it with programs that take their players' development seriously, and measuring the gains right alongside them as the season climbs.

Careers

We're a small team focused on piloting the platform with early programs. No open roles at the moment — but we'll be hiring as we scale. If you're an engineer, a designer, or someone with a background in baseball performance science who wants to keep in touch, reach out.
